Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist / Prosthodontist?

Dr. Perry realized the dental profession was for him at a young age. He suffered a sports accident as a kid, resulting in dental trauma, so he ended up getting to know his dentist pretty well. Dr. Perry discovered that he respected the profession, valued their skillset, and appreciated the compassion they had for what they did every day. Having the opportunity to work with his hands and reconstruct someone’s mouth to be functional, healthy, and beautiful appealed to him on a deep level and brought him to where he is today.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Attending the University of Florida, Dr. Perry earned a master’s in nutrition and spent time working in a dental lab before graduating from dental school. He went on to obtain a second master’s degree in prosthodontics with a thesis focused on dental biomaterial mechanics.
In addition to completing a three-year, full-time residency (during which he served as chief resident), Dr. Perry has taken several hundred hours of continuing education. Today, he is board-certified in prosthodontics, having passed the written exam and all three oral exam requirements within four months of finishing his program.
In an effort to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry, he is also an active member of the:

Dr. Perry and his wife, Susie, met while they were in dental school (she’s a pediatric dentist). They were alphabetic neighbors and partners in sim lab, marrying the year they graduated. Now as the proud parents of three children and one dog, they like to stay active as a family, hiking, fishing, golfing, and being outdoors as much as possible.
